For a long time now I’ve been contemplating … letters. Good old handwritten letters.
Words can offer friendship, speak of love, provide encouragement, or make us laugh. We all receive texts and/or emails every day that make us chuckle, keep us informed, or remind us of our schedule. Yet I find myself remembering with great fondness the stack of letters that I have from my grandmother; letters written to me as a child that now, so many years later, still remind me of her love for me. I am grateful for her handwritten letters and consider them one of my greatest treasures. Those letters from my grandmother are the inspiration for my new kit, Write Me a Letter.
As I was formulating my thoughts for Write Me a Letter, I contacted my friend, Mary Ellen, and shared my vision with her. I asked if she would draw some characters for me to include in the kit, and she far surpassed any expectations that I may have had. She presented me with drawings of the most adorable little boys, staring so thoughtfully into space, as if they are trying to capture their thoughts and use just the right words to express them. Mary Ellen also drew 2 girls. The girls seem like they have the letter-writing tasks totally mastered, as one girl confidently writes her letter, while the second girl already is on her way to the mailbox!
