You may remember several weeks ago I came across an estate sale, which included books and other items dating back to the 1800’s. Along with all of the books I purchased, I also came away with a number of vintage sheet music and song books. I envisioned all of the different ways these could be useful!
Recently, I started working with these treasures, and my Music Collection is the result.
- Music Scores: a set of (8) 12″ by 12″ musical scores, provided in jpg format, in png format (to preserve the transparent areas) and ABR format (Photoshop brush)
- Music Song Sheet Covers: a set of (8) 12″ x 12″ music song sheet covers, provided in jpg format, in png format (to preserve the transparent areas) and ABR format (Photoshop brush)
- Music Instruction Strips: a set of (10) 12″ wide instructional strips; height varies. Also provided in jpg format,in png format (to preserve the transparent areas) and ABR format (Photoshop brush). Reading the instructions that were provided over 100 years ago for piano students was quite fascinating!
Why did I provide these products in 3 different formats? You can get achieve different final results, based on which option you choose. Use the jpg overlays with blending modes, color overlays, or any other way you would use an overlay. Transparencies (pngs) offer flexibility in numerous ways, one of them being the fact that they do not affect the color of your background. Brushes (ABR) can be used as stamps, and give you the flexibility to choose the color you would like to use before stamping; you can also easily vary opacity and blending levels at this time as well.
For more information and a demonstration of how overlays and transparencies affect the same background differently read my tutorial: Transparencies vs. Overlays.
To see how Priscilla Steelman used some of my music products treat yourself and take a took at her blog post: Tattered Musical Poinsettia. I was inspired by her post and can definitely see some of these lovely items making my Must-Make-These Christmas list.
