The following story was in my personal newsletter this week; but by request, I have shared it here on my blog as well, for those of you who might have missed it!
I learned something this week. I learned that squirrels are inclined to lay completely flat on the ground in hot weather, although I did have to Google that.
Riley learned something new too. He learned that squirrels are not afraid of him when they know there is a door between them.
We were all just going about our daily business, when Riley raced to the patio glass door, jumped up on it (which he NEVER does), and started barking wildly. We looked to see what was troubling him, and saw a squirrel, laying just as flat and still as could be in the shade of our bbq grill. He didn’t seemed upset at all to see Riley jumping up and down and barking like a “crazy-dog.”
After a few minutes, Riley settled down and decided to try to stare the squirrel away. Every few minutes though, he would turn around and look at us as if to say…..
“Really? Can you believe this guy?”
Now, back to work!
